I am a documentary photographer focused on observational fieldwork, drawn to unguarded moments where composition is discovered rather than imposed, and presence emerges without performance.

Projects include: Presence, Passage, Periphery, and Absence, each exploring a distinct form of witness.

Alongside my field-based practice, I maintain two parallel projects that extend my work into editorial and conceptual forms:

Liminal Lens, editorial photo essays drawn from fieldwork, exploring images that sit between document and interpretation, forthcoming 2027.

Portraits from Memory, a long-term autobiographical study of portraiture, forthcoming 2028.

Before pursuing photography, I worked in healthcare and as a professor in the biomedical sciences, teaching clinical informatics and writing for science and technology.

Based in Maine, I travel extensively for fieldwork.
